GWNAGJU, South Korea, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Russia's mixed duo took a gold medal in the duet free artistic swimming at the 18th FINA World Championships on the South Korean city of Gwangju on Saturday.

Mayya Gurbanberdieva and Aleksandr Maltsev finished in 92.9667 points in the mixed duet free final, 1.1334 ahead of Manila Flamini and Giorgio Minisini of Italy who claimed silver. Japan's Yumi Adachi and Atsushi Abe came away with bronze with 90.4000.

Maltsev became the first male artistic swimmer to secure two golds at the world championships. He captured gold in the mixed duet technical, teaming up with Gurbanberdieva on Monday.

Since the mixed duet artistic swimming was adopted at the 2015 Kazan world championships, Maltsev has won the three duet free titles, including the one in Gwangju, paired with different Russian partners.

Chinese mixed tandem Shi Haoyu and Cheng Wentao sealed sixth with 85.6667 among 11 competitors. Enditem
