PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday denied a Wall Street Journal's report that the country signed a secret agreement with China to allow Chinese armed forces to use its Ream naval base in southwestern Preah Sihanouk province, terming it as "fake news."

"This is the worst fabricated news against Cambodia. There is no such a story because the presence of any foreign military base is contrary to Cambodia's Constitution," Hun Sen said in an exclusive interview with Fresh News service provider. (Cambodia-Fake News)

FARAH -- A total of 16 fighters including 12 militants and four policemen were killed as a clash broke out in western Farah province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Mohibullah Mohib said Monday.

The clash, according to Mohib, erupted late last night after the militants stormed some security checkpoints in Darabad and Haider Gholi areas outside the provincial capital Farah city, triggering heavy battles and resulting in 12 deaths, including 14 militants and four policemen. MANILA -- The House of Representatives of the Philippines on Monday elected Alan Peter Cayetano as the 22nd Speaker of the House at the opening of the 18th Congress.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has earlier endorsed Cayetano's Speakership. Cayetano, 48, a politician and an ally of Duterte, was Duterte's defeated running mate in the May 2016 elections. (Philippines-Speaker)

QUETTA, Pakistan -- The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has handed over a sustainable water project to Pakistan's southwest provincial capital Quetta as part of China's ongoing efforts to build more social development projects in the country.

Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Zhao Lijian on Sunday inaugurated the project of five ready-to-use solar-powered tube wells and gave it to Quetta's Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA), the sole water distributor in the provincial capital of the southwest Balochistan province.
