KIEV, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The international election observers to the parliamentary elections in Ukraine presented their preliminary conclusions at a press conference in Kiev on Monday.

The international election observers believed the fundamental rights and freedoms were overall respected and the campaign was competitive, despite malpractices, particularly in the majoritarian races during the snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine, according to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE ODIHR) official Facebook page.

"The campaign was conducted competitively and there were no abuses as a whole," said Ilkka Kanerva, special co-ordinator and leader of the OSCE short-term observer mission during the press conference.

Madeleine Moon, head of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) delegation, stated that the NATO PA is ready to cooperate with the new parliament and will help Ukraine in European integration.

"The European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada in recent years have reached unprecedented cooperation. We have helped the Council in developing its capabilities, mediation and dialogue. We hope that the future parliament will work on building national consensus and reform," said David McAllister, head of the European Parliament delegation.

The international election observation is a joint mission of the OSCE ODIHR, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and the European Parliament (EP). The observation mission totals 811 observers from 45 countries.

Snap parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on Sunday, July 21.

According to the national exit poll as of 8 p.m. local time on Sunday, five parties made it into the new parliament. Servant of the People party receives 44.2 percent, Opposition Platform - For Life - 11.4 percent, European Solidarity - 8.8 percent, Batkivshchyna - 7.4 percent and Holos - 6.5 percent. Enditem
