MANILA -- At least seven foreign terrorists are in the southern Philippines to train Filipinos to become suicide bombers, a Philippine army general said on Tuesday.

The seven suspected terrorists are being coddled by the terrorists Abu Sayyaf Group in the remote island provinces of Basilan and Sulu, and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao in central Mindanao, said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. HANOI -- Vietnam is likely to face an electricity shortage of 6.6 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) in 2021 and 11.8 billion kWh in 2022, which can increase to 15 billion kWh in 2023, according to its Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The shortage is mainly attributable to the sluggish implementation of 47 power projects with a capacity of more than 200 megawatts (MW) each, local daily newspaper Vietnam News on Tuesday quoted Phuong Hoang Kim, director of the ministry's Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority, as saying. LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- At least three militants including a group commander were killed as fighting aircraft pounded Taliban hideout in Marja district of the southern Helmand province on Monday, said an army statement released here Tuesday.

According to the statement, the killed Taliban commander has been identified as Farid who bears one name like many Afghans, and another fighter got injured in the air raids. (Afghanistan-Attack)

COLOMBO -- Nine people have been killed and 19 others injured after heavy rains and strong winds lashed out across Sri Lanka since last Thursday, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said in its latest situation update on Tuesday.
