LONDON -- Former British Foreign Secretary and ex-mayor of London Boris Johnson was elected the leader of the ruling Conservative party on Tuesday and set to become the country's prime minister.

Johnson said that as PM he will bring "a new spirit of can-do" to the country. "It's time to deliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat (Labour leader) Jeremy Corbyn," he told audience after winning the party leadership.

Outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May said Johnson will have her full support from the back benches. (Britain-PM)

KATHMANDU -- The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall across Nepal over the past two weeks reached 98 on Tuesday, according to authorities.

At least eight persons died and four others went missing due to landslides in the Gulmi district in western Nepal on Tuesday morning.

The floods and landslides have so far affected around 35,000 people, especially residents in the low-lying areas known as the Terai region. (Nepal-Weather)

SHARAN, Afghanistan -- Two civilians, including a 10-year-old child, were killed and three police officers wounded after a car bomb explosion ripped through a dusty road in eastern province of Paktika on Tuesday, local police said.

MOSCOW -- Four children were killed in a fire that broke out early Tuesday at a children's camp in the Khabarovsk region in Russia's Far East, local media reports said.

Twelve other people including seven children were injured in the camp fire which burned down 20 tents. The regional division of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that there were 189 children in the camp when the fire broke out in the morning.(Russia-Camp Fire) Enditem
