SKOPJE, July 23 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski and Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov signed in Ohrid a protocol on cooperation in combating human trafficking, the press office of the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony held on this occasion, Spasovski said that the protocol has a significant importance as it raises the cooperation, exchange of information and the operational action of the two countries against human trafficking on a higher level and as a challenge to deal with.

Spasovski praised Bulgaria's support to North Macedonia for the European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) bid.

"I hope that we will continue to cooperate together and to send this message of friendship and unity. Only through cooperation and mutual action, the two countries and their citizens, as well as the region can make progress," Spasovski said.

In his remarks, Karakachanov said that the signing of the protocol is a step forward in promoting cooperation and relations among the two countries.

"The cooperation between our two countries against human trafficking has existed so far, mostly within the interior ministries, but with this document, the two countries confirm the determination to work together in implementing the European policy to fight this phenomenon in both societies," Karakachanov added.

Karakachanov emphasized that Bulgaria will continue to support North Macedonia in its Euro-Atlantic integration path. Enditem
