TOKYO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks plunged Friday morning after the market mood turned risk-off on heightening concerns about the future course of the global economy amid trade concerns.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 509.36 points, or 2.36 percent, from Thursday to 21,031.63.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 33.92 points, or 2.16 percent, at 1,533.43.
All industry categories on the main section retreated into negative territory, with nonferrous metal, iron and steel, and mining-linked issues comprising those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
