ASUNCION, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international striker Andre Ribeiro scored twice as Gremio booked a place in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals with a 3-0 victory at Libertad on Thursday.

Jean Pyerre converted a fifth minute penalty after an Ivan Piris handball before Andre hit the target with a long-range effort at Defensores del Chaco stadium in Paraguayan capital Asuncion.

Andre netted the Brazilian side's third goal on the stroke of halftime by dribbling around goalkeeper Martin Silva and firing in from an acute angle.

The result gave Gremio a 5-0 aggregate win after their 2-0 home victory last week.

The Porto Alegre club will meet Brazilian rivals Palmeiras in the quarterfinals, with the first leg to be played at Arena do Gremio on August 20.

Defending champions River Plate will face Cerro Porteno, Boca Juniors meet LDU Quito and Flamengo will play Internacional in the other quarterfinals. Enditem
