TEHRAN, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Iran will resume construction of its longest cross-sea bridge to link the Qeshm Island in the Gulf to Bandar Abbas port city in the south of the country, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said on Wednesday.

Negotiations have been held with the investor to resume the project, Eslami was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Iran's plan to build the bridge has been halted for various reasons, most notably due to "environmental considerations," he told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony on the Qeshm Island.

The bridge would be a "symbol of advanced engineering," and it will contribute to the region's economic boom, he added. Enditem
