CARACAS -- "Venezuela is denouncing to the world that, right now, a ship carrying 25,000 tons of soybean meal for food production in our country is currently being detained in the Panama Canal," Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said on Wednesday.

The vice president blamed the incident on the virtual trade embargo imposed by the White House and formalized by U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, when he issued an executive order freezing all Venezuelan state assets in the United States.

YAOUNDE -- "Cameroon is a sovereign country ... It is no other person's business. We do exactly what we have to do to develop our country," Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute told Xinhua while visiting the construction site of a China-funded water plant.

"We are not going to listen to all kinds of snide remarks by people who think they know better. We have a country we have to develop and that is our responsibility. We take it seriously," he added.

Ngute denounced Wednesday the "debt trap" allegation against Chinese loans by some western media outlets.

WASHINGTON -- "We are hopeful that in the coming weeks we'll get back to the negotiating table to achieve that," said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday, adding that the U.S. objective of denuclearization of the DPRK has not changed.

Pompeo made the remarks during his joint press conference with visiting British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, highlighting Pyongyang's moratorium of nuclear and long-range missile launches, which he called as "good things."

KUALA LUMPUR -- "In the long term, every country will become loser, no one will emerge as winner," Malaysian Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng told reporters on Thursday after attending the Malaysia-China Belt and Road Economic Cooperation Forum.

"We should uphold multilateral proposals. The unilateral behavior of the U.S. will make everyone and every country lose money," he said. "Everyone loses in a trade war. If such scenario continues, in the end it will bring the U.S. no good neither." Enditem
