BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay international midfielder Nahitan Nandez has joined Italian Serie A club Cagliari from Argentine giants Boca Juniors, both clubs said on Friday.
The 23-year-old agreed to personal terms of a five-year contract after undergoing a medical at Cagliari's training ground.
"Finally, red and blue. Welcome, Nandez," Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini said on Twitter.
Nandez joins a distinguished list of Uruguayans to have represented Cagliari. Among his compatriots to have played there are Enzo Francescoli and Daniel Fonseca while current Celeste national team boss Oscar Tabarez was the Sardinian club's head coach from 1994 to 1996 and again from 1998 to 1999.
Nandez made 36 league appearances for Boca after his 2017 move from Penarol. According to Argentine press reports, Cagliari paid 20 million euros for the playmaker's signature. Enditem
