TOKYO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were flat Friday morning as investors buying back issues oversold a day earlier offset selling on mounting concerns about a global recession.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 18.68 points, or 0.09 percent, from Thursday to 20,424.33.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.48 points, or 0.17 percent, at 1,486.33.
Real estate and securities house issues led gainers, while nonferrous metal and insurance-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
