BEIRUT, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese customs authorities stopped on Saturday four smuggling operations on the Aboudiya crossing border in northern Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.
Smugglers were trying to transport tobacco, medicines, detergents and vegetables illegally into Lebanon.
The smuggled products were referred to judicial bodies under the offense of money laundering.
The Lebanese government has been adopting strict measures aimed at controlling the borders and preventing smuggling in a bid to protect the country's economy.
Lebanese Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said that there are more than 124 illegal border crossings on the Lebanese-Syrian border. Enditem
