BEIRUT, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Nadim Munla, advisor to Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, said on Saturday that the United States is still committed to supporting CEDRE, local media reported.

The CEDRE is an international conference which pledged to release 11 billion U.S. dollars in loans and donations for Lebanon on condition that the country makes serious reforms.

"The U.S. is showing commitment to CEDRE by encouraging its companies to invest in Lebanon and through the World Bank's loans aimed at securing growth and stability in the country," Munla was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

Lebanese officials and experts have, in the past few months, voiced their concerns about wasting CEDRE loans and donations after Lebanon's delay in implementing necessary reforms.

Lebanon has approved its 2019 state budget which constitutes one of the conditions imposed by CEDRE, but the country still needs to implement numerous other reforms. Enditem
