TOKYO, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight as hopes for Germany's new stimulus measures and China's interest rate reforms bolstered sentiment amid receding concerns about a global recession.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 114.06 points, or 0.55 percent, from Monday to close the day at 20,677.22.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.44 points, or 0.83 percent, to finish at 1,506.77.

Real estate, metal product and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play. Enditem
