SEOUL -- Stephen Biegun, U.S. special representative for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) affairs, said Wednesday in South Korea that his country was ready to engage in working-level talks with Pyongyang for the Korean Peninsula's denuclearization.

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- A total of 18 militants have been killed as fighting aircraft targeted Taliban positions in parts of beleaguered Eshkamish district in the northern Takhar province, provincial governor's spokesman Mohammad Jawad Hajari said Wednesday.

KANDAHAR -- Twenty-one Taliban militants have been arrested in southern Kandahar province, the provincial governor said Wednesday.
