ADDIS ABABA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has sent his best wishes for all Ethiopians celebrating Ashenda/Shadey/Ashendye/Solel festival, which is girls and young women's festival celebrated in Tigray and Amhara regional states, northern part of Ethiopia, starting late August. -- The Ethiopian Ministry of Education on Wednesday said a decision has been made to introduce the 6-2-4 education system, six years of primary schooling, followed by two years of junior secondary and four year of secondary schooling.

The current schooling system pursues eight years of primary, two years of general secondary, and two years of preparatory senior secondary education. (FBC)

-- Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedu Andargachew has urged South Sudanese parties to be more vigilant to implement the pre-transitional period tasks before the extension period elapses.

Gedu, who is also chairperson of the IGAD Council of Ministers, made the remark at a consultation meeting in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, to review implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan. (FBC) Enditem
