KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A major system disruption at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia's major air gateway, has lasted over 20 hours, resulting in long queues and at least 20 flights being delayed on Thursday.

Of the delayed flights, two were domestic while remaining 18 were international flights.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the company which manages most of the country's airports including KLIA, said disrupted connection has affected several airport systems such as WiFi connection, Flight Information Display System (FIDS), check-in-counters and the Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), in a statement.

"Due to the current systems interruption at KL International Airport, we advise passengers to check-in via the respective airlines' mobile app or website. Please also arrive 4 hours early prior to your flight," it said.

MAHB added that it had mobilized its personnel to help passengers and advised those planning to depart from the airport to direct their enquiries to its customer hotline and check its social media accounts for updates.

KLIA is one of eight international airports in Malaysia and is listed as the 23rd busiest in the world Airports Council International (ACI). Enditem
