PRAUGE, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A special exhibition of Chinese seals, Chinese painting and calligraphy works opened here Thursday in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

The exhibition, named "100-year-old Xiling and Chinese Seal", was for the first time brought to the Czech Republic after its tour to big cities like Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and others.

The week-long exhibition brought 48 Chinese seals with the theme of Olympic Games and 70 pieces of Chinese painting and calligraphy works, which were all created by the member artists of Xiling Seal Art Society.

At the opening ceremony, Chinese artists and their Czech counterparts also painted and performed calligraphy at the site and exchanged their ideas on arts.

Zhang Jianmin, Ambassador to the Czech Republic, said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the bilateral relations and it's a good way to promote cultural exchange and deepen understanding of the peoples of the two countries.

Xiling Seal Art Society, founded in the year 1904, is the oldest arts union in China and one of China's most important traditional stone seal engraving associations.

The exhibition, co-sponsored by the Hangzhou-based Xiling Seal Art Society and the Zhejiang Huajie Co. Ltd, will last till Aug. 29. Enditem
