U.S.-listed Chinese companies trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Thursday with nine of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of JD.com and Ctrip.com International declined 4.07 percent and 3.98 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of TAL Education Group increased 0.06 percent for the day, the only gainer in the top 10.

U.S. Stocks closed mixed on Thursday as investors closely monitored the Federal Reserve's annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 49.51 points, or 0.19 percent, to 26,252.24. The S&P 500 fell 1.48 points, or 0.05 percent, to 2,922.95. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 28.82 points, or 0.36 percent, to 7,991.39.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,791.78, marking a 3.21-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 21.84-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
