ADDIS ABABA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Starting his two-day state visit to Republic of Korea, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid his respects on Monday to the fallen Ethiopian heroes who bravely fought in the Korean War.

According to Office of the Prime Minister, Abiy has laid a wreath at the Seoul National Cemetery reserved for Ethiopian martyrs. Ethiopia was the only African nation to send a battalion, which was known as Kagnew Shaleka, as part of the United Nations forces in the Korean War in the 1950s. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)

-- Ethiopia's Minister of Peace Muferiat Kamil has met and held talks with Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abune Mathias.

The two have discussed the challenges facing religious institutions at a national level, according to the Ministry of Peace. (FBC)

-- The Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Higher Education on Monday announced that it has prepared a draft five-year strategic plan that it envisions to be implemented in institutions of higher learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Ministry of Science and Higher Education State Minister Samuel Kifle said the plan would help adopt new and effective training in Ethiopian universities and technical and vocational training education institutes. (ENA) Enditem
