OSLO, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 21-year-old Norwegian Phillip Manshaus, who is charged with terrorism and murder, is to undergo a complete forensic psychiatric observation, newspaper Aftenposten reported Wednesday.

Manshaus is charged with terror attack after shooting at the Al-Noor mosque in Baerum on Aug. 10, and for killing his 17-year-old step-sister Johanne Zhangjia Ihle-Hansen.

After a three-hour conversation with Manshaus, a psychology specialist recommended a complete forensic psychiatric observation of the accused, the report said.

According to Pal-Fredrik Hjort Kraby, attorney of the Oslo Police District, the police will request a complete judicial observation, a so-called forensic psychiatric examination.

If the court supports the request for investigation, two experts who are either psychologists or psychiatrists, will be appointed and questions about the defendant's accountability will be addressed.

In four out of five cases, the experts find that the observed were accountable at the time of action, according to the Norwegian Psychological Association.

Manshaus acknowledged the facts, but denied the punishment, adding that the motive for the attack on the mosque was "to scare Muslims in Norway," the newspaper wrote. Enditem
