BRATISLAVA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Slovan Bratislava football club has confirmed the appointment of Jan Kozak Jr. as its permanent head coach.
Slovakia's reigning champions signed Kozak Jr. as interim coach at the end of July after their elimination from the Champions League qualifiers and sacking previous head coach Martin Sevela.
The 39-year-old Kozak Jr., a former professional player and member of the Slovak national team, went on to lead Bratislava on a remarkable winning streak (winning 10 out of 12 matches) and even advancing to the Europa League Group Stage after surprisingly ousted PAOK FC on Thursday.
"We were satisfied with Mr. Kozak's performance for some time now and signed him as the permanent head coach for the entire season even before the clash against PAOK FC," announced the club's GM Ivan Kmotrik Jr.
The Europa League Group Stage draw in Monaco selected tough opponents for Slovan Bratislava on Friday. The club from Slovakia's capital city will face Besiktas Istanbul of Turkey, Sporting Braga of Portugal and Wolverhampton Wanderers from Britain in Group K. Two top teams from each of the 12 groups will advance to the Europa League playoffs. Enditem
