HOUSTON -- The Police Department of Odessa, U.S. state of Texas, posted a message on Facebook Sunday, saying the shooter who killed seven people in west Texas has been identified as 36-year-old Seth Aaron Ator from Odessa.

The police, however, didn't provide any additional information, and the gunman's motivation behind the shooting remains unclear. (US-Shooting)

DAMASCUS -- The cease-fire that was declared recently by the Syrian army in the last major rebel stronghold in the northwestern province of Idlib is "temporary," Syria's presidential advisor Buthaina Shabaan said.

Local media outlets cited Shabaan on Sunday as saying that the cease-fire which entered into force in Idlib on Saturday was a unilateral decision by Russia and Syria and is not part of any other understandings. (Syria-Ceasefire)

BERLIN -- Germany's far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) made big gains on Sunday in state elections in Brandenburg and Saxony, according to initial results published by local media ARD.

The AfD won 22.5 percent of the votes in Brandenburg and 27.5 percent in Saxony, a sharp increase from 12.2 percent and 9.7 percent respectively in the two states five years ago. (Germany-Election-AfD)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that his country is ready to launch another attack at Hezbollah in Lebanon after fire exchanges broke out along the Lebanese border.
