HONG KONG -- Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam said on Tuesday that she had never tendered a resignation to the central government.

"I said on several occasions previously and also reaffirmed by my colleagues in the Chief Executive Office in response to media inquiry, that throughout this period, that is from the very beginning till now, I have never, I have never tendered a resignation to the central government," Lam said at a regular press conference. NEW DELHI -- Indian capital New Delhi needs to learn from China in successfully cleaning its air above Beijing and neighbouring areas five years ago, a new study jointly conducted by Indian and Chinese environmentalists has suggested.

The study was jointly conducted by China-based policy think tank Bluetech Clean Air Alliance and Delhi-based environment organisation Climate Trends that aims at strategic communications, focusing on building public understanding and discourse on issues of climate change, environment and clean energy. TOKYO -- Shigeki Takizaki, a senior Foreign Ministry official, was named by Japan on Tuesday as its new top diplomat for Asian affairs.

Takizaki, 57, will take over from Kenji Kanasugi as director general of the ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, with the move effective from Sept. 9, the government said. (Japan-Asian Affairs-Diplomat)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia and Malaysia signed two pacts on Tuesday to boost bilateral trade, investment and tourism, said a joint statement.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad presided over the signing ceremony of the deals after their bilateral talks at the Peace Palace here, the statement said. (Cambodia-Malaysia-Cooperation) Enditem
