TIRANA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The revenues in Albania during the month of August increased by 4.7 percent or 1.6 billion Albanian lek (ALL) (around 14.4 million U.S. dollars), Albanian Minister of Finance and Economy Anila Denaj told reporters on Wednesday.

Denaj made the declarations at a press conference where she informed the media of the results of the implementation of the Operational Plan for the fight against unlawful acts for August.

According to Denaj, during August, the plan of revenues from taxes, customs and contributions was accomplished by 100 percent.

Revenues for the eight-month period in Albania increased by 3.8 percent or about 9.7 billion ALL more than the same period last year.

"Due to this performance, the Ministry of Finance and Economy will continue to implement the Value Added Tax (VAT) refund calendar, where only for August was refunded a total of 1.68 billion ALL, or 42 percent more than in August last year," Denaj emphasized.

Meanwhile, according to the minister, for the first eight months of this year, the ministry has refunded a total of 11.8 billion ALL as a VAT to businesses registering, an increase of 28.7 percent year-on-year. (1 USD = 110.5 ALL) Enditem
