TOKYO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks surged Thursday morning as eased trade concerns saw risk appetite return with the benchmark Nikkei average topping the 21,000 level for the first time since Aug. 1.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average climbed 481.94 points, or 2.33 percent, from Wednesday to 21,131.08.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 31.91 points, or 2.12 percent, at 1,538.72.
All industry categories on the main section advanced into positive territory, with marine transportation, electric appliance and precision instrument-linked issues comprising those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
