SINGAPORE, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.53 percent, or 16.49 points, to close at 3,147.06.
A total of 738.13 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.02 billion Singapore dollars (about 736.94 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 191 to 190.
The STI index went up 1.29 percent, or 39.94 points, to close at 3,130.57 on Wednesday. Enditem
