RIO DE JANEIRO -- The achievements China has scored today have provided important inspiration to developing countries, including Latin American countries, said Severino Cabral, chairman of the Brazilian Institute for China and Asia Pacific Studies.
Those achievements, which are inseparable from the advantages of the Chinese system, can help Latin American countries explore development paths that are more suitable to their own national conditions, Cabral said.

HANOI -- Kung Phoak, a senior official of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), is so impressed by the vitalities of Chinese rural villages recalling his visit recently.
"When going to rural villages in China, you can see a lot of villagers doing businesses, leveraging on innovation technologies, for example, using e-commerce platforms to sell their products," said the official.
Kung Phoak, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, made the remarks at a press briefing on the occasion of the symposium "Innovation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Eradicating Poverty" taking place on Wednesday and Thursday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

DAMASCUS -- Omar al-Mekdad, a Syrian expert in Chinese affairs, told Xinhua on Friday that the ongoing expo in China is considered one of the fruits of cooperation between the Arab world and China.
He said the expo comes within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative that was proposed by China in order to achieve comprehensive and balanced development and to improve the economic structure on the basis of equality.

BEIRUT -- President Michel Aoun said Friday that Lebanon will defend itself "by all means" if attacked by Israel, Lebanon Presidency's website reported.
