RABAT, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan police in the eastern city of Oujda on Saturday arrested a Guinean citizen over kidnapping migrants and human trafficking.

It also rescued a Sudanese national and six people from Sub-Saharan countries who were held captive in a house by the suspect, according to an official statement published by the Moroccan news agency MAP.

The Guinean national had smuggled these people from the city of Oran in Algeria into Oujda in Morocco, and held them to force them pay 500 euros (552 U.S. dollars) each in return for illegal immigration, the statement added.

The suspect, who was remanded in police custody to complete the investigation, will face charges of illegal immigration and human trafficking. Enditem
