OTTAWA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- With maximum recorded winds of 145 km per hour, Dorian hit much of Atlantic Canada at hurricane strength on Sunday morning, leaving downed trees and flooded-out roads in the region, according to the Canadian Hurricane Centre.

　　There were no reported injuries after the storm swept through the region.

　　More than 369,000 people in Nova Scotia province in the country are without electricity after Dorian swept through the province while more than 55,000 people in New Brunswick province and 50,000 in Prince Edward Island are also without power.

　　Some 300 members of the Canadian Armed Forces are preparing to deploy in Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia province, Sunday afternoon, according to CBC.

　　The military staff will help clear roads so power crews can begin restoration. Some 400 more are ready to be deployed when needed.

　　The center said that Dorian, now a post-tropical cyclone, was centred over the northeastern Gulf of St. Lawrence in the country and moving at 43 km/h. It is expected to continue to track northeastward, bringing strong winds and heavy rain along with it.

　　Dorian's winds started the day at approximately 130 km/h. They were expected to decrease to 120 km/h as the storm hit northern Newfoundland Sunday afternoon and 110 km/h as it skirted eastern Labrador in Canada in the evening, then diminish further as it moved out to sea.
