Gulf agency discuss anti-corruption agreement

MUSCAT, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Heads of integrity and anti-corruption bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) discussed on Monday enhancing integrity and combating corruption, as well as preparing procedural guidelines.

This came during the fifth meeting of the heads of the bodies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries, held Monday in Muscat at the headquarters of advisory body of the GCC Supreme Council, in the presence of the GCC Secretary General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

According to an official statement of the Omani State Audit Institution (SAI), the meeting discussed the guiding code of conduct for the bodies responsible for protecting integrity and fighting corruption in the GCC states.

It also reviewed the preparation of a part on transparency and protection of integrity in the annual report to be issued on the situation of human rights in the GCC states.

Addressing the meeting, Nasser bin Hilal Al Mawali, SAI chairman, stressed that protecting integrity and combating corruption require continuous follow-up of developments at the regional and international levels.

The GCC secretary general said in his speech that the meeting came to review and discuss the issues related to protecting integrity and fighting corruption in the GCC countries. Enditem
