LONDON -- British lawmakers on Monday night voted to reject Prime Minister Boris Johnson's second bid for a snap general election, dealing another heavy blow to his Brexit strategy.

The legislators voted 293 to 46 to turn down the government's wish to hold a general election on Oct. 15. The next general election is scheduled for 2022. (UK-Brexit-Vote)

NEW YORK -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired unidentified projectiles twice from a western region toward the East Sea on Tuesday local time, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported, citing the country's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The projectiles were launched in an easterly direction from an inland area in the South Pyongan Province, the JCS said, without providing further details. (DPRK-Projectiles)

THE HAGUE -- Three people were killed and another one was seriously injured on Monday evening in a shooting incident in the Dutch city of Dordrecht, Rotterdam police said on Twitter.

The incident took place in a house. Dordrecht mayor Wouter Kolff spoke of a "very serious" shooting incident and said he would visit the house later. (Netherlands-Shooting)

WASHINGTON -- The executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Monday that it will consider the nomination of Bulgaria's Kristalina Georgieva, currently chief executive officer of the World Bank, for the position of IMF managing director.

Georgieva, selected by the European Union to lead the IMF, has become the only nominee for the position, as the period for submitting nominations closed on Friday.
