SAO PAULO -- Brazil is banking on China to remain as its leading partner when the South American country undertakes economic reforms to spur growth, Vice President Hamilton Mourao said on Monday.

"We are making the reforms needed so that Brazil can again see a new economic cycle, and we are counting on China as a partner along this path," Mourao told participants at an annual gathering of the Brazil-China Business Council in Sao Paulo. (Brazil-China-Economy)

WASHINGTON -- If the world's two largest economies can work together "cooperatively and productively" on trade, it will benefit themselves and the whole world, said International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief economist Gita Gopinath, stressing that imposing tariffs is "counterproductive."

NEW DELHI -- The Sixth China-India Strategic Economic Dialogue and the China-India Economic Cooperation Forum were held here on Monday, with both sides exchanging views on macroeconomic policies and reaching consensus in pragmatic cooperation.

ROME -- Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte entered the home stretch Monday of his effort to be formally installed as the head of his second consecutive government, promising a "more respectful" and more pro-European government.

The Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Italy's parliament, on Monday voted comfortably to support Conte's government by a majority of 343 votes in favor and 263 against.
