2019 Global Grid Forum kicks off in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Sept.10 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Global Grid Forum kicked off Tuesday, with a report titled Research on North America Energy Interconnection released by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) in a bid to provide innovative solutions for the sustainable development of economy, society and environment in North America.

Hundreds of representatives from countries including Canada, China, the United States and Britain are attending the two-day conference.

Liu Zhenya, chairman of the GEIDCO, is to deliver a keynote speech titled Build GEI, Open up a New Era of Sustainable Development for Mankind at the opening ceremony of the conference, while Liu Guoyue, deputy general manager of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and Bi Yaxiong, vice president of China Southern Power Grid Corporation are also expected to speak during the conference.

Global Energy Interconnection (GEI), which is designed to provide an integrated solution to promote global energy transition and accelerate clean energy development, is a modern energy system steering toward clean energy production, widespread energy allocation and electrification of energy consumption as well as an important platform for large-scale development, transmission and utilization of clean energy resources worldwide.
