TOKYO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as despite a negative lead from Wall Street overnight, investor sentiment was bolstered by receding trade issues.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 53.35 points, or 0.25 percent, from Tuesday to 21,445.45.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.85 points, or 0.44 percent, at 1,564.84.
