NAIROBI, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The first Zhejiang International Trade Exhibition opened in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi on Thursday as more than 30 exhibitors showcased high quality auto parts from the Chinese province.

Ababu Namwamba, Kenya's chief administrative secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the expo has attracted 2,000 of visitors from east Africa who are looking to purchase the latest innovations in vehicle technology.

"Kenya is seeking to attract Chinese investors who will make the country's automotive sector both regionally and internationally competitive," said Namwamba.

The three-day event will highlight the latest technology trends in auto parts, electronic systems, auto accessories, garage systems and auto dealership workshops.

Namwamba said that the Sino- Kenya ties are all about shared values and prosperity.

"Ever since Kenya attained independence our relationship with China has been cordial and has resulted in tangible benefits for citizens of both countries," he added.

Wang Jianer, vice general manager of Zhejiang International Convention and Exhibition which organized the exhibition, said that Zhejiang province and Kenya's total import and export trade reached 146 billion shillings (1.46 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018 which is approximately a quarter of China's total trade with Kenya.

Wang noted that the trade show serves as a favorable platform to showcase the overall image of Zhejiang auto parts enterprise, which further boosts the common development and mutual exchanges of the automotive sector of the two countries. Enditem
