Box of money appears in Denmark, part of Snoopos' social experiment

COPENHAGEN, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Student Maiken Oerts in Aarhus city, west of Denmark, found a small tin box at Aarhus University Park, with a globe logo inscribed with the words "Open Me" upon it, local media reported Saturday.

Upon opening the box, Maiken Oerts found to her pleasant surprise it contained approximately 50 U.S. dollars and a note explaining that the finder must keep the money and the black box.

The metal box is believed to be the "modus operandi" of a group called "Snoopos". The online Instagram group claims to be based in Rome, Italy and to have been placing money inside the small metal boxes in cities around the world.

Their Instagram page also has photos of a similar style of box showing up in Cologne, Milan, Rome, Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand.

The box is attached with a statement saying: "We are doing a social experiment all around the globe in which we are giving away money in these boxes. The goal of it is to find out what people do with the money they would not have had. We are more than happy that people already donated the money to charity."

Maiken Oerts told TV East Jutland that she had yet to decide what her sudden "fortune" should be spent on.
