Simonsen completes first swim around Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Extreme swimmer Lars Simonsen Sunday afternoon completed his epic 8,750 kilometers swim around the coastline of Denmark.
The last two kilometers were swum in the company of other swimmers and kayaks as Simonsen crossed the finish line at Flensburg Fjord, Denmark's southernmost fjord on the border with Germany.
"It is completely indescribable feeling. It's like having champagne inside, I felt like both laughing and crying at the same time," the jubilant Simonsen told DR TV News.
The extreme swimmer, a former soldier, started his trip in Southern Jutland in June 2017.
Before the endeavor, Simonsen admitted he could not properly swim. And when he began training, he was only able to swim 50 feet until he received the help of a Swedish iron woman. Enditem
