LIMA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The leader of Peru's Popular Force opposition party, Keiko Fujimori, has been admitted to a hospital due to heart problems, local media said on Sunday.

According to Peruvian news agency Radio Programas del Peru (RPP), Fujimori arrived at the hospital around 10 p.m. local time (0300 GMT on Monday), accompanied by three patrol cars.

Fujimori, a two-time presidential candidate, was transferred to the Centenario Clinic from a women's prison in Lima, where she was being held while authorities investigate corruption charges against her.

Fujimori is accused of illegally accepting money from Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht to fund her 2011 presidential campaign.

Considered a flight risk, Fujimori was ordered to be detained for a period of 36 months initially. The Peruvian Judicial Branch on Thursday cut the preventive detention to 18 months.

Fujimori is the oldest daughter of Peru's former President Alberto Fujimori, who was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2009 for human rights violations during his term. Enditem
