BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's total export in June 2019 fell by 9 percent to 634.4 million Brunei dollars year-on-year, and total trade fell by 0.8 percent to 1,229.8 million Brunei dollars year-on-year, government statistics show on Sunday.
According to the latest International Merchandise Trade Statistics released by the Department of Economic Planning and Development at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the decrease in the sultanate's total exports was primarily caused by a fall in the exports of crude oil by 7.9 percent and liquefied natural gas by 22.5 percent.
The highest share of exports in June 2019 went to Japan (36.7 percent), followed by Singapore (15.3 percent), Australia (10.6 percent) and Thailand (9.8 percent).
The nation's total imports, however, recorded a year-on-year increase by 9.8 percent to 595.4 million Brunei dollars.
The highest share of imports in June 2019 came from Kazakhstan accounting for 15.9 percent, followed by Iraq (13.6 percent), Singapore (11.5 percent), Malaysia (10.1 percent) and China (8.4 percent). (1 U.S. dollar equals to 1.35 Brunei dollars) Enditem
