WINDHOEK, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Namibian government on Monday gazetted a new regulation imposing an environmental levy on imports of plastic carrier bags, disposable batteries including car and truck batteries.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Finance under government notice number 226 published in the latest government gazette.

The Namibian Ministry of Finance said the new regulations will come into effect on October 1.

The move will make it mandatory for all importers dealing in such goods from the date of implementation liable to declare them to the Namibian customs authorities and paying the cost associated with the affected products. Enditem
