Tokyo stocks open lower as sentiment dented by Saudi oil attacks

TOKYO, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as concerns mounted over rising costs for crude oil and future supply following drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities over the weekend.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 37.59 points, or 0.17 percent, from Friday to 21,950.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.61 point, or 0.04 percent, at 1,609.26.

Marine transportation, air transportation, and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
