JUBA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua)--South Sudan and Kenya have agreed to drop visa fees for their citizens, according to the ministry of foreign affairs on Wednesday.

An agreement reached last week between South Sudan's interior minister Michael Chengjiek and his Kenyan counterpart Fred Matiang'i would allow citizens of the two countries to travel without paying visa fee, said Mawien Makol Ariik, a spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs.

Payment of the 50 U.S. dollar visa fee will end this month, Ariik said.

"There was a meeting between South Sudan's interior minister and his Kenyan counterpart to waiver visa fees for citizens of both countries," Ariik said.

"The committee from Kenya came to Juba to sign the agreement which will commence in October this year," he added.

Kenya becomes the third country in the six-member trading bloc, the East African Community (EAC), to grant South Sudan free visa-status after Tanzania and Rwanda. Enditem
