BUDAPEST, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian border authorities have detained seven migrants attempting to enter Hungary illegally by sailing up the River Tisza near the southern town of Roszke in an inflatable dinghy, police said Wednesday in a statement.

"Seven migrants attempted to enter Hungary unlawfully in a rubber boat in Csongrad County," said the statement.

Police escorted the migrants back to the temporary security border fence set up at the Hungarian-Serbian border.

According to police, the migrants claimed to be Iraqi, but they could neither confirm their identities nor the legality of their stay in Hungary. Enditem
