CAPE TOWN, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major media outlets on Thursday.

--Reducing rebates on excise duties will negatively impact the competitiveness of the auto industry, Members of Parliament heard on Wednesday.

Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance heard inputs from the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa on the 2019 draft tax bills. (Fin24)

--The Democratic Alliance (DA) on Wednesday welcomed the Constitutional Court judgment dismissing President Cyril Ramaphosa's leave to appeal an order that his office should give reasons for firing ministers.
