ISTANBUL, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police on Thursday detained at least eight foreign nationals in Istanbul over their suspected links to the militant group Islamic State (IS).
Operations were launched simultaneously in six districts of the city to capture the suspects, including two women, the Hurriyet daily reported, without revealing their nationalities.
Some organizational documents and digital materials were also seized during the raids, according to the report.
The detainees, who allegedly provided financial support to IS militants, have been in conflict zones in Syria and Iraq.
Turkey suffered a spate of deadly attacks over the years blamed on IS, in which more than 300 people were killed. Enditem
