SOFIA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria hopes that the political far-sightedness would prevail and Britain would not leave the European Union (EU) without a deal, the country's deputy foreign minister Georg Georgiev said here on Friday.

What has been learned from recent statements of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was that Brexit must happen at any cost, Georgiev said while answering a question at a press conference.

"At any cost means to us that a Brexit scenario without a deal is also possible," Georgiev said.

Bulgaria has repeatedly stressed that the consequences that could come from Brexit without a deal "could be catastrophic for both sides, unfortunately mostly for the UK," Georgiev said.

"We very much hope that wisdom, political far-sightedness will prevail and that no-deal Brexit will not happen," he said. Enditem
