Sudan defeat Djibouti 4-0 in regional football U20 Challenge Cup

GULU, Uganda, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Sudan kicked off the 2019 Council for East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) Under-20 Challenge Cup in style with a 4-0 win over Djibouti here on Saturday.

Abbas Mohamed gave Sudan the lead after 24 minutes as they dominated play.

The Djibouti team resorted to a defensive approach to deny Sudan's chance of getting more goals.

After halftime break, Ali Albager Eljamri made it 2-0 for Sudan on 74 minutes. Yaser Ammar Aboalqassem increased Sudan's lead in the 78th minute, 3-0.

In the 86th minute, Musab Kurdman Elsiddiq converted a penalty to seal the victory.

Sudan now lead Group A before Uganda face Eritrea in the second game at the same Stadium.

The 11-team tournament will go through to Oct. 5, with Group A having Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea and Djibouti, Group B composing of Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zanzibar, and Burundi, South Sudan, and Somalia in Group C. Enditem
