LONDON, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) is "in no way responsible" for the consequences of Brexit, and the bloc should not be held accountable for what is a "British decision," European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Sunday.

"The European Union is not leaving the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom is leaving the European Union," Juncker said in an interview with Sky News, which was broadcast on Sunday. (UK-EU-Brexit)

BAGHDAD -- The extremist Islamic State (IS) militants shot dead four members of a family in an overnight attack in the Iraqi province of Anbar, a provincial official said Sunday.

The killings happened in late Saturday night when the IS militants broke into the home of a member of the paramilitary tribal Hashd Shaabi forces at the edges of the town of al-Kheirat, some 60 km east of the provincial capital Ramadi, Imad al-Dulaimi, the mayor of the town, told Xinhua.

The extremist militants opened fire and killed the Hashd Shaabi member, two women and a child before fleeing the scene, al-Dulaimi said. (Iraq-IS-Killing)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 26 people were killed and 19 others injured when a passenger bus crashed into a hill in northern Pakistan on Sunday, a local police officer said.

Brakes of the bus carrying 45 passengers failed while negotiating a turn at a mountain pass, Muhammad Irfan Khokhar said, adding that some people were traveling to their work places in east Punjab province. (Pakistan-Road Accident)

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- The Afghan government forces have recaptured the Jaghatu district in eastern Ghazni province after days of fierce fighting, said an army statement released here Sunday.

The government security forces took full control of Jaghatu on Saturday, the statement said without speaking of casualties. Security forces officials said they retook seven districts over the past 10 days, with three of them in northern Badakhshan province.
